Who are the Jury members of the International Filmmaker Festival of New York? Here’s how the winners are chosen.

The International Filmmaker Festival of New York made the official announcement today for the jurors who are participating in the 2018 Competition. The five-day festival takes place at Kaufman Astoria Studios on May 25-29, 2018. Listed below are the honorable panel of judges for IFFNY’s 7th edition:

  • Jotti Ejlli, serving as the President of the Jury, the director of Rosso Fuoco and Hije, winner of Artistic Achievement Award, known as Artistic Director for many successful projects and popular television programs in Milan and Albania.
  • Ibër Deari, serving as the Festival Selector and Juror, award-winning Macedonian director of My City ScreamsTokaA long way Home, and winner of Best ArtistBest Director, Best Film, the Audience Award for Best Film.
  • Margherita Peluso, Award-Winning Actress and Writer, a regular performer at La Mama Theater in both Australia and NYC, received Best Actress nomination, known for her roles in Blood Trust, Gray’s Disconnected, Amore Criminale, Un’Amore di Strega, ‘Io, Marta’. 
  • Kendrick Merdani, a successful Actor and Teacher, known for a variety of primetime TV shows like NBC’s The Blacklist, Allegiance, Fox’s The Following, CBS’s Person of Interest, MacGyver, and USA’s Falling Water, and Associate Teacher of Meisner Technique at Terry Knickerbocker Studio in New York.
  • John Blenn, an accomplished Director, Producer, and Playwright, owner of Middle Class American Productions, known for Two Tickets To Paradise, Here Comes the Boom, Bronx Bull, 911 and Beneath The Darkness, all Martin Guigui films, and Big Fish Blues.

IFFNY is organized by Mrika Krasniqi and Nil Production, hosted by Ermira Babamusta and Giorgio Kolaj. Ilir Rizaj and Ivan Morales are the official festival photographers.

What are the prizes?

The International Filmmaker Festival of New York is a competitive festival with Jury Prizes in feature, short, and documentary  categories. Additionally, awards are given out by the Festival and the Audience.

This 2018 Edition IFFNY will award 8 (eight) prizes for the best participatory works:

  • Best Feature Film
  • Best Short Film
  • Best Feature Documentary Film
  • Best Short Documentary Film
  • Best Actor Award
  • Best Actress Award
  • Production Award
  • Cinematography Award

How are the winners selected?

Winners are chosen by majority from its selection of nearly 40 films. Jury members cannot have films in competition. IFFNY Jury will award its prizes to the winners during the Awards Gala Closing Ceremony on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 9:00PM at Kaufman Astoria Studios.

The Red Carpet Opening Ceremony starts at 7:00PM on Friday, May 25, 2018 at Kaufman Astoria Studios, followed by film screenings at Producers Club Theaters, and the Awards Gala on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 9:00PM at Kaufman Astoria Studios.
